Guide to Slack channels

Here’s a guide to all the relevant Slack channels which are specifically designed for use by virtual program participants.

• announcements_v3 is for major announcements.
  • We’ll usually use channel pings on this channel, but reserve it for very important things.
• curriculum_v3 is for discussing curriculum topics, if the discussion doesn’t fit into the other channels.
• errata_v3 is for reporting mistakes in the material.
  • I’ll react with 👍 if the error is spotted & fixed (possibly I’ll also comment on it).
  • These errors might not necessarily fix your copy of the exercises, e.g. if you’ve already copied a Colab, so it’s important to keep an eye on this channel in case there are some important mistakes to be aware of.
• introductions_v3 is for making introductions!
• logistics_v3 is for discussing logistical topics (e.g. the BlueDot site & submission mechanism, or devops-related issues).
• prerequisites_v3 is for discussing the prerequisite material.
• questions_v3 is for asking questions about the curriculum material, so people can answer them in the Slack channel.
  • This is different from errata, since questions here should be related to understanding the actual material, not mistakes in the material.
  • The implication is that questions in this channel will be answered via a Slack reply.
• ta_requests_v3 is for asking for TA support.
  • Message here if you want a TA to hop into a call with you and explain something (they might not all be available immediately, so using the questions channel is usually a better option).
• tips_v3 is for general tips / advice people share as they go through the material.
